Recently we had a great opportunity to organise a three day textile workshop at Delta Studios, called “Make a Friend”.
Participants made fantastic life sized dolls and as they came to life each doll developed a unique personality.
The feedback we received was amazing, here are some of the comments:
“This experience has really helped in gaining more skills & encouraged my creativity"
“Fabulous fun - loved every minute” “It was so meaningful on so many levels”
“A very professional, high quality workshop with big heart”
“Thank you so much for this wonderful experience”
We are planning to create future workshops which will be advertised both here and on Delta's Facebook page.
Here are some of he wonderful photos that were taken throughout the workshop.

This March, three of our Studios 5 artists will be leading a new textile workshop called Make A Friend. Agnieszka, Ania and Anna have created a three day workshop inspired by Louise Bourgeois, Alex Rigg and Nick Cave in which participants will make a life size doll. The workshop will teach different textile techniques including hand & machine sewing, embroidery, appliqué and dyeing & painting fabrics to create something unique. Every participant will leave with their own life size doll at the end of the three sessions, you can see their dolls in the photo above.
The workshop will run on Saturday 12th, Sunday 13th & Saturday 19th March from 11am - 2.30pm. The cost is £60, all materials, equipment and tea/coffee/cake will be provided. Don't worry if you haven't worked with textiles before, no experience is needed to take part. Over 16's only.

Delta Studios opened their Young Artists Exhibition entitled ‘Fractured’ on Friday 12th June. It was a great night with around 80 young people aged between 5 and 18 years exhibiting work and hundreds of visitors attending to see their wonderful creations. The younger classes produced work on a variety of subjects while the older students created one piece each on the subject of unconventional gas and oil extraction. As usual the young people outdid themselves putting on a fabulous, colourful, creative and though provoking exhibition.
Here are some of the photos from the opening night...
Please come along for a look before the exhibition ends on the 3rd of July. You will not be disappointed!! The exhibition is open Monday - Saturday 10am - 3pm, admission free.
We are so excited about this exhibition, we can hardly wait until the opening next Friday!
Over the last year our wonderfully talented young people aged 5 - 13 years have been making the most beautiful, thoughtful and creative pieces of artwork. These include handmade illustrated books, animations, sculptures, drawings and paintings. This year we decided to work on a few big projects which took a lot of time but are well worth it when you see the results! The young people have worked incredibly hard to get everything finished and we're almost there!
As well as this, Delta's portfolio classes and young people around the Forth Valley area who entered our 'Fractured' competition have all created a personal response to the subject of unconventional gas and oil extraction. This is a hot topic in our area at the moment and our young people have been researching the subject to create unique and thought provoking artworks. There are paintings, drawings, a few installations and some very interesting hanging and free standing sculptures.
Please join us on Friday the 12th June at 7pm for the opening, it's going to be amazing!
If you can't make it for the opening night, the exhibition is open Monday - Saturday 10am - 3pm until the 3rd of July. Plenty of time to pop in for a visit! The talent and creativity from our young artists is truly fantastic...you don't want to miss out on seeing this exhibition!
We are seriously excited to see how young people in the Forth Valley area feel about fracking and how this will be conveyed through the art that is made for this exhibition!!!
For anyone aged 15 -18 years living in the Forth Valley area. Your artistic responses through individual research are required for an exhibition at Delta Studios, The Creative Centre entitled,
“fractured ” (unconventional oil and gas extraction colloquially known as fracking).

We are pleased to announce that we are now running our adult art classes on a Tuesday!
If you haven't been along to our classes before, here's how Delta began......
It all started in Craig's house about 18 years ago when he moved to Larbert and started teaching art classes in his house/studio in Carronvale Road. The classes started with 1 student but steadily grew to around 40 students. Craig realised pretty quickly that he was going to have to find a bigger space so he ventured out to find a new home for the classes and Delta Studios was born!
Although an industrial estate in Larbert is an unexpected place for a artistic community, 13 years later Delta Studios is thriving with over 60 regular attendees to the adult classes and 85 young people aged 5-18 years attending children's and portfolio classes throughout the week.
Delta's adult classes showcase their work once a year in the gallery space upstairs with a vibrant and extremely creative exhibition! Check out some of our photos from past exhibitions.
Every student works on something completely unique with guidance from tutors Craig and Hania. The focus is on individuals exploring their own directions and expression and choosing their own creative path.
Our classes are relaxed and fun and there is always a good laugh to be had. The adult classes are very flexible and you can drop in to any of the sessions running in the morning, afternoon or evening.
Monday & Thursdays 09.30 - 12.30 / 13.00 - 16.00 / 19.00 - 22.00
Tuesday & Friday 09.30 - 12.30 / 13.00 - 16.00
Hania Smith will be taking our new Tuesday class. Hania has been involved in Delta Studios for over 8 years, teaching the children's, portfolio and life drawing classes and is now taking some of the adult art classes. Hania loves experimenting with new materials, especially found objects and recyclable materials. Check out some of her work below.
A new addition to our events for 2015 will be four individual workshops that will combine poetry, dance, music, art history and the thrill of making an individual piece of art. All workshops take place at Delta Studios, The Creative Centre and are led by Artist/Director Craig McKechnie. The cost for each workshop is £12, this includes all materials and refreshments. Booking is essential and can be made on-line by using the button below or tickets can be purchased at Delta's reception. For any other enquiries please call 01324 555500.
We are so excited to announce the date for our next class exhibition entitled, 'and then you danced'. The class exhibition is always a favourite as there is such a variety of work on display. In the adult classes, every student works on something different so by the time we hang the exhibition, the space is bursting with creativity! There will be paintings, drawings, prints, sculpture and mixed media works on display. Please come along for a look, the exhibition starts on Saturday 21st February and runs until the 27th March. The classes are working hard to put the finishing touches on their work and it's going to be great, hope to see you there!
